Yoghurt making

I know this has been done before but I saw HFW making his own the other night and I thought I would give it a go.
I can't remember did he heat the milk first? Also how much yoghurt do you need to use? Would you just leave it next to a radiator over night, we haven't got an airing cupboard.
Any hints welcome.

Warm milk to "hand hot" (not too hit if you put your finger in the pan)
Add 2 tblsp live yoghurt.
Put in wide mouth flask and leave over night.

Works a treat.

I tried it the weekend but the temp of the milk was too hot when I added the yoghurt and it curdled, so I ended up making cheeseSmile.
