I want to make Nigella's buttermilk birthday cake but only have full fat milk. Will it still work out?

I think you're sposed to replace buttermilk with natural yoghurt?

you can make buttermilk out of normal milk by adding lemon juice and leaving to stand for 15 mins
hang on

1/2 pint milk
1 tbsp white vinegar or lemon juice

leave to stand for 5 - 15 mins

voila buttlemilk

Thanks everyone and I shall be equipped for next time. I had to start so stuck with my victoria sponge recipe. It was lovely but I will definitely try buttermilk cake next.

You can also use a mixture of natural yoghurt and whole milk.

45g yoghurt and 75ml milk is equivalent to half a US cup of buttermilk.
