zippitippitoes · 13/09/2005 17:55

yes

zippitippitoes · 13/09/2005 17:55

if it's best rather than use

SoupDragon · 13/09/2005 17:55

Yes. I'd give them a damn good sniff first though and cook them thoroughly.

Tiggiwinkle · 13/09/2005 17:55

Yes. You can test them first by putting them in water. If they float completely they are bad. If they stand up on one end they are a bit stale-the flatter they lie in the water, the fresher they are.

Thomcat · 13/09/2005 17:56

ooohhhh I just wouldn't. I feel all ick thinking about old eggs, euggggggghhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!

There's a difference between off eggs and eggs that are past some made up, average "use by" date

Tiggiwinkle · 13/09/2005 18:00

Hausfrau!

alison222 · 13/09/2005 18:02

Also I keep my eggs in the fridge and they last longer than on the supermarket shelf as it is colder. You can smell an off egg a mile off

BunnyBoo · 13/09/2005 18:04

Sorry but i agree with Thomcat on this one ewwww

Skate · 13/09/2005 18:05

Nope. No way.

froot · 13/09/2005 18:05

always never even look. Only once ever in my life cracked one and found it was bad.

SoupDragon · 13/09/2005 18:06

All you "ewwww" pwople, do you honestly think that an egg is perfectly fine one day and off the next? Do you think the egg knows what date it has stamped on it?

philippat · 13/09/2005 18:29

lord, yes, sometimes weeks past (also keep in fridge). Never encountered a bad one.

SenoraPostrophe · 13/09/2005 18:31

eggs are fine for ages ater the best before date.

cas73 · 13/09/2005 18:32

I just did.

BlondeinLondon · 13/09/2005 18:59

yes

QueenOfQuotes · 13/09/2005 19:01

oh yes all the time same as philippat keep in the fridge and last for ages.

snafsicle · 13/09/2005 19:03

You wusses

Keep them in the fridge and they go waaaaay past their date, ime.

Aero · 13/09/2005 19:04

All the time! If I'm dubious at all, I just test them - never had a floating one yet!

QueenOfQuotes · 13/09/2005 19:04

also eat pre-packed sliced meat past it's date too. Buy a pack and keep it for a week.

SoupDragon · 13/09/2005 19:04

I've used them weeks past their date and never encountered a bad one either. Didn't like to confess quite how slack I am

Aero · 13/09/2005 19:05

What did you all do before the BB date was stamped on them?
