slow cooker help needed pls

Hav borrowed a friends slow cooker to do a beef casserole.

Will it cook in 7hrs if I put it on low?

Do I need 2 turn it on to warm it before I put evrything in it

And do I need 2 brown the meat first

I warm mine whilst I'm prepping the veg. Don't bother browning the meat first, makes no difference in casseroles as the meat is covered in gravy any way so you can't tell. I put mine on high for the first hour to kick start it, and then turn it on low for another 6 hours. Hope it turns out okay!

I've found everything cooks on low in 6 hours. I never warm it first but I do tend to add warm stock

I always brown the meat first to get some caramelisation and extra flavour in.
