My 4 year old DD has just started school and has a hot school meal. So when I collect her from school I am not sure whether to give her another dinner or just a snack. my 2 year old DS is at nursery all day and he gets fed there with a late afternoon snack but will eat again if I feed him when we get home. i am trying not to have too many different meals when we get home (snacks, meals, dinner for me and DH later) or to give them too much food. what do others do?

When my DD has a hot meal at school I normally give her a lighter hot meal for tea, something like soup, omelette, scrambled eggs on toast etc unless we're cooking a family meal together.

I'm not sure about primary school, but I know for a fact that nursery schools tend to fill children up on fruit avd veg, so because if that they tend to be hungry at home in the evening due to lack of carbs, so definitely give your younger choked a meal after nursery if he will eat it. I'm not sure about primary school though, sorry.

But I guess a good rule is if your dd is hungry after school, give her a light tea ie eggy bread, salad etc
