Ideas for nice staying in NYE

I wasn't sure where to put this but I thought I'd start a thread of nice ideas for NYE for those who will be staying because they can't get a babysitter or going out is too expensive.

My ideas are:

  1. This is what we are doing this year. We are going to order a take away sea food platter from Loch fyne and have it at home, just the two of us after the kids are in bed, with champagne ;-)
  1. Other years we've shared the cooking, one of us does the starter and dessert and the other the main, sometimes with a theme, and bought a really good bottle ofwine with the money saved by not going out.
  1. If you are having people round a curry night where each person brings a different curry dish

What are everyone elses plans?

Ours will be a takeaway curry from my favourite restaurant and a bottle of plonk :-) if we go down the just us route

new parents and not many of our friends have DC but would love some friends to come to us and do a buffet style meal, but cant imagine anyone wanting to stay in....

We always stay in and either have a takeaway curry with friends and they and their kids stay over too. We then have a big sunday dinner type meal together the next day.

Or if it's just the two of us, we make sure we've got a good film to watch and a spread of really lovely picking food. Great cheeses, cold meats, pate, crusty bread, garlic prawns and some chilled prosecco.

I'd rather do these any day than pay over the odds for a crappy do in a pub or a hotel and have to pay 3 times the price for a taxi.
