Dairy-free fairy cakes?

We've got one of DD's little friends coming over tomorrow and he can't have dairy. Eggs are ok. DD wants to make cakes, does anyone have an easy dairy-free fairy cake recipe? Or is there a dairy-free alternative to butter I can buy?

Thanks!

Yes I also use Pure Dairy Free Soya Spread as a straight replacement for butter in all my recipes as suggested by Maud. Available in all the major supermarkets.

That's great, thanks, off to Sainsburys now so I'll get some!

Just came across this thread. I know this is after you wanted info but I have a vegan choc cupcake recipe if you'd like it.

You can also just use veg oil instead of butter. Also olive oil nice if you melt a few squares of dark choc into basic sponge mix, equal weights of fat, sugar, flour, eggs. Whisk with a little splash of water. Dole out into cases and check after 12 mins. Take out AS SOON as you suspect they are done and they'll be lovely and moist

I use Trex. Works a treat for dairy free cupcakes,
