why is a chocolate cake i bought today now a ganache

Where did you buy it from?

If they are trying to improve their ranges, calling it ganache means they can add to the price as it sounds posher!

oh what is ganache then, was a thorntons chocolate cake from tesco. cost £8 but tasted same as usual (and much cheaper) cake

I think ganache is icing made with melted chocolate and cream.

yeah ganache is made with chocolate and cream

rather than buttercream icing
