Spiderman cake turned my son's poo green!

It was my son's 4th birthday last week and rather than make a cake (which I now wish I'd done!) I bought him a Spiderman one from Tesco. He ate all of the Spiderman made from blue and red icing and now his poo is bright green! I assume it is down to the colouring in the icing - has anyone else ever experienced anything like this? (!)

Oh no. Was it the one with spiderman climbing "off" the cake sort of thing. we also had one on sunday for my sons 5th birthday and of course he was the one that ate the spiderman off the top. but i have to say i haven't examined his poo (!) as luckily we have gone past the stage where i have to wipe his bum, but next time he does a poo I'll be straight in there and let you know !!! Just a thought but if it was last week surely it would have gone through his system by now ?

It was that one, sorry! He ate half the Spiderman on Friday and half on Saturday. My mum first noticed the result on Sunday, and it was still like it today...

I must be a bad mother as I let my son eat the whole thing in one sitting !!!
I guess I better warn my childminder or she'll be calling me at work tomorrow to come and collect him because he's got some wierd illness ! Thank you for the warning.

ds still remembers how the Thunderbirds cake for his 3rd birthday turned his poo green (Thunderbird 2)

We've had this before with the Tweenies cake! Lovely isn't it?!

You can get a nice pink poo if you feed them lots of strawberries and beetroot though.

Thanks LIZS and Angiel, at least it's not just us!

And if I turned my sons poo pink he would curl up with shame and die. I can hear him now "But pink poo is for girls "

My kids love beetroot and ds loves it if he does a different colour wee. He likes to announce to everyone what colour he produces.

XAusted · 12/08/2003 20:46

PS we also had a Spiderman cake back in Feb. The icing was yummy.

I had the same thing when DS ate a blue iced donut. Was about to rush him to doctor convinced he had something terrible but without going into too much detail the next poo was 2 tone!!!!! Guessed at that point it wasn't serious. DS now inspects it every time to see what colour it is - lovely!!!!

princesspeahead · 12/08/2003 21:48

but did it give him superpowers, hewlettsdaughter?!

Furball · 13/08/2003 13:24

Had the same thing with Ds' Thomas the Tank cake. Lovely shade of greeny blue!

PPH.
Happy to report situation is back to normal today . It does make you think, though, doesn't it? I've still got the box for the cake and it lists about 47 ingredients! Might go back to making my own next year...
