Sorry to gatecrash EvilAnts...

Thanks

JamieJay · 14/10/2010 20:23

Can't believe I'm about to admit this, but I never knew what tofu was made of and having just googled have discovered it's soya based which I've also had to give up, so no vegan cheesecake for me Blush

next time she comes over make her scrambled tofu!!!! :-D
i can almost guarantee she will never buy it again

EvilAntsAndMiasmas · 14/10/2010 20:42

The internet says I can blend it then stir it into marinara sauce. But WHY?

OP posts:
EdgarAllInPink · 14/10/2010 20:53

add it to noodle soup.

...fromscratch..

fry onion, garlic, chilli, mushrooms & peppers if you like...add boiling water and noodles, add chicken stock cube (or two).
Add silken tofu.

mmy guess as how its done, but i have eten plenty of silken todfu, and it can be really yummy. just think of it as sth to add to Chinese style food instead of/ as well as egg.

EvilAntsAndMiasmas · 14/10/2010 20:54

Aw thanks Edgar :)

Do you chop it up, or just bung the whole block in?

It's supposed to be really useful in a kind of chocolate pudding. Will see if I can find you a recipe.

thereistheball · 15/10/2010 13:59

Here you go.

EvilAntsAndMiasmas · 15/10/2010 14:31

Ah thanks you are all so lovely. I'm starting to feel quite fond towards it now, I may keep it as a pet.

blend it with (tiny bit of)milk and a bit of salt or boulliin and use instead of a pie topping

mash it, mix with a bit of strong flour, boullion, mayo, tommy k, mustard and veg for an then fry like an omlette
