ds2 has a friend over tonight so they are having easy failsafe food (I hope)

pizza bagels
bowl of chopped up carrots, cucumbers, peppers, tomatoes
bowl of chopped apple, pear, grapes
bowl of mini breadsticks
pot of homous
bowl of cashew nuts

lemon cheesecake for afters (if it defrosts in time)

DooinMeCleanin · 14/10/2010 16:43

Beef stew with herbby dumplings, mash and veg. As chosen by dd1 this morning. Though I suspect that she only picked it because she spotted 'wine' in the ingredients Grin

ManiDeadi · 14/10/2010 16:47

Hmm, I did a pitta pizza for lunch, so can't do that.

Might just have to do a chicken salad or something that doesn't take too much prep!

Turkey meatballs in tomato sauce and pasta, with green beans and carrots.

Since DS2 started school and had school meals he has become more adventurous, there is no way he'd have eaten this meal 6 weeks ago.

serenity · 14/10/2010 16:55

Going to stir fry some chicken breast and Lountza (Cypriot smoked pork loin, bit like Canadian bacon or Sopocka which is the Polish version the big supermarkets sell on the Deli counter) with garlic and lemon and then mix it with some Phili cheese and have it with pasta and salad. Very, very lazy dinner as I'm knackered and have to go to work.

Lucycat · 14/10/2010 16:56

meatballs in tomato sauce here with cheese - dd2 has a Brownie friend over before we all go and make lanterns for the Vision event next week!

hence the early tea and much chattering in the dining room Grin

GloomyTubeNosedBat · 14/10/2010 16:56

After this week's mealtime performances, beans on toast with sausages in them. With nothing for afters.

Lizzylou · 14/10/2010 16:57

Serenity, can you really get Lountza here?
I have fond memories of Halloumi Lountza sandwiches from a Cyprus holiday 20 years ago Grin

serenity · 14/10/2010 17:05

You can, if you can find a Greek shop. There's a few near me (south London) and bloody tons in north London, but I'm pretty sure the Sopocka is the same stuff - we bought some in Lidl and it tastes the same Smile

The stuff I have for tonight though is the genuine article - MIL (Cypriot) has just come back bearing gifts of various meats and cheeses and a bag full of duty free chocolate.

Envy

I am not sure Lancashire is quite so cosmopolitan, Lidl it is!

serenity · 14/10/2010 17:19

Sorry Blush Posted and then looked at your profile to see where you are. Sainsbury's and Tesco's sell Sopocka too, but that might just be a regional thing, because we have a big Polish community here.

Lizzylou · 14/10/2010 17:35

We have a sizeable Polish community, will have a look, thanks Smile
Oh, just remembered the Greek Deli in Bury, Katsouris, surely worth a shot!

ManiDeadi · 14/10/2010 20:00

OMG I love halloumi lountza sandwiches - I never knew that was what the sausage was called though..mmm fond memories here too!

I ended up doing beans on toast as I thought it would be more sleep inducing filling than salad.

Mine had fish fingers, chips, peas, ketchup. Smoothie to drink. Grapes for pud.

I have been on marathon cleaning bender and £155 Sainsbos shop today as dmum coming to stay tomorrow, and just didn't have it in me to produce a delicious home-cooked meal at the end of that Grin.

ManiDeadi · 14/10/2010 20:08

Sounds like quite a nice meal namey Smile. My ds would have loved that!
