What is your favourite, failsafe and prepare in advance dinner party menu please?

Prepare in advance with easily available ingredients - oh, and nice comforting, autumnal food.

I'd go for roasted tomato soup (made ahead) - I make it like this - it's homely and not too filling. Also easy to make as you just leave it to do its thing.

Then I'd go for lamb tagine as again it kind of looks after itself and feels right for the season. This is my recipe

For pudding I'd be tempted to go for a crumble (prob plum and almond) with custard or if that's all a bit much what with soup and tagine then I'd do a Nigella and serve cupcakes with coffee. Maybe even coffee and walnut ones 1970s style!

As you can see, dinner parties in my house are fairly low on effort! Wink
