Chicken for kids - help

Skate · 11/09/2005 11:39

I'm just doing my weeks meal plan and I'm trying to get a chicken dish in the kids plan - they don't normally eat it tbh and I want them to start. Anyone got any good ideas for how to introduce it - need a quickish and easy idea for after school tea.

All 3 will be eating it - they are 1, 3 and 4

TIA

get breasts and bake or grill it and cut it into small pieces and serve with something else they like

Do they like tomato sauce on pasta?

If you cut the cooked breast up small chunks and put in with tinned toms and onions ontop of pasta.

chicenk nuggets and let hte older ones help make it cut breasts into chunks let them dip in seasoned egg and crushed cornflakes they can crush the cornflakes to and bake for 20 min

you could also mix the pasta sauce with philadelphia, to make a nice creamy sauce. my dd like ist dpped in yoghurt and dipped in crushed cornflakes and baked.

I know Anabel Caramel oops karmel is a bit frilly but she has some great chicken recipes. I still use some and dd is now 5.

Just googled an Annabel Karmel recipe I remembered that uses chicken fillets to see if I could give you a link, but the first website that came up was for bras - chicken fillets!
Anyway I can't find it, but it's chicken fillets with mango chutney and apricot and it's for toddlers if you can get hold of the book. It doesn't seem to be on her website.

my two's favourite chicken recipe - it Roast Chicken, Roast potatoes and veg

Thanks everyone - might try the dipping in egg and cornflakes! Or putting it in pasta might work as they do eat pasta.

My kids love stiry-fry noodles with veg. I usually make it vegetarian but it is an ideal dish to add small pieces of cut up chicken to - try using dark meat - pieces of chicken leg or thigh as it's not as dry. Pre-cook some chopped up veg - whatever they like (peas, carrots, baby corn, sweetcorn, broccoli). Then warm some sesame oil, soy sauce and honey in a pan. Add the cut up pieces of chicken and cook for 5 minutes or so until cooked through. Then add the veg and a pack of pre-cooked sesame noodles (you get them in the salad section of most supermarkets) and cook for another minute or two until the noodles are warm.

It's one of the few things other than fish fingers and chips that ccan make my kids clean their plates! And even the one-year old should be fine with it although the noodles do tend to end up everywhere!
