will you have access to a kitchen?

how many to cater for?

any veggies in the party?

Big cheese board with different crackers and good pickles, big meat board with good salamis, hams, saucisson, chorizo etc and some good bread. Then loads of olives, sun dried toms etc.

Or if they want it hot, do a big pot of spicey chilli with sides of nachos, oven wedges, grated cheese, sour cream etc. Just give them bowls not plates for this one though!

Or cook off a whole heap of different types of sausages (you can get all kinds of great types in the supermarket or a good butcher) and serve them with a load of hot dog buns, different mustards, ketchup, a heap of really well cooked onions then they can all make their own as it were.

Good luck, hope it goes well.

Brunch? can you fry up a load of sausages, eggs beans, fried bread etc, like at a buffet breakfast?

maduggar · 12/10/2010 19:09

ahh bunch lol not brunch!! Sorry Blush

jacket potatoes with choice of toppings..

chilli
beans
cheese
sour cream and chives
tuna sweetcorn

I second jacket potatoes and assorted fillings, plus a soup or stew. A few donations of home-made cakes (especially chocolate)and/or pies would be economical and popular.

Chilli bulked up with extra beans and tomato, big chunks crusty bread, grated cheese, jacket potato's, wraps, tortilla crisps. You could do rice but it is a bit time dependant.

bangers and mash or jackets with baked beans

If it has to be cold then cook a ham and serve with coleslaw, cabbage roughly chopped and oniona nd carrots grates - is the cheapest way to make a lot - add a little salad dressing or mayo

pickles and onions as someone suggested and a big cold pasta salad with mayo and pesto

Go to a big Indian sweet centre / food shop and buy huge quantities of samosas etc. I got stacks of food for little over 20 quid. And only effort required was sticking it onto platters. Was lovely as well

StuckInTheMiddleWithYou · 13/10/2010 21:54

Hmm liking the indian idea (lots of such shops round here).

Yes to kitchen, not to veggies.

Plus baked potatoes to fill bellies.

Cheers M'dears.

Big slow cooker full of chilli with bread rolls to go with them
pasta baked with cheese sauce and ham to bulk it out
hot dogs and fried onions

anything with lots of meat will suit most men!
