I hate to say this but I think all the experts have got it wrong about diet and children eating junk food.
I am not an expert on diet but having lived a long time and seen what people eat and the results, in my opinion young people eating junk food is not the only problem of obesity.
In my younger days just after ww2, the average child in the UK had fish and chips, bread and lard and such nasty things, there was not a lot of food but everybody spent a lot of time playing football or working, thus burning off the fat.
The mothers generally did not have a job so there was a certain amount of good home cooking. The problem these days, all the mothers work so the food is full of preservatives and hormones and the children spend all their time watching television or playing computers so they are taking on the fat but not burning it off.
I know people who have made it to 90 years old and all they have ever eaten was junk food but they do not over eat and they get plenty of exercise.
So there you have it, it?s not the junk food, it?s the ?couch potatoes? that?s the problem.
