Ice cream maker recommendation?

My boys eat so much of the stuff thought I'd have a go at making my own!

But not sure what to get - don't want to spend a fortune though either!

Anyone use one?

I recently bought (on recommendation) the Lakeland one for £40. Have yet to use it, as I want to use it for glut fruits. It is the sort whose bowl needs to be stored in the freezer so you need a bit of space. The £200+ models you don't need to store the bowl in the freezer. I have a reasonable sized freezer so thought I'd save myself the £160+.

I have a little £36-£40 magimix one and it's great. Just keep the base in the freezer and it's good to go. HM icecream is so much nicer than shop bought and you can do all kids of delicious flavours. We've done strawberry cheesecake ones, lemon curd ones, nutella ones, the kids love it! And you know what's in it.

I've got Philips Delizia and it's brilliant.

I have a phillips- its the best one ever (google Annalisa Barbieri's column in the guardian). No pre-freezing, so you can make it on the spur of the moment, and cost about £22!

I have the Lakeland one with the removable base, so you put the base in the freezer rather than the bowl. (actually have 2 bases so I can make 2 different portions)
Current adult fav is Plum ice cream from the BBC web site.

I make vanilla with different food colours and mix in lots of clashing coloured fruit puree blue ice cream with strawberry mixed thru at the end is fun??.

we have the philips one where you put the disc in the freezer delizia i think . i got it from ebay for baout £10 and used it a couple of times a week in he summer mailnly to make strawberry ice cream --scrummy!!
