biscuit recipes

Most of the biscuits I have made in the past have been soft dough recipes that you "blob" onto a baking sheet and which produce roundish biscuits. I now want to make shaped biscuits so need a recipe which can be rolled out and cut out with biscuit cutters, partly my toddler can have fun cutting them out with me. Does anyone have any good recipes for this? I'm particularly after flavoured recipes, such as chocolate or ginger.

Thanks

8 oz sr flour

4 oz butter

3 oz sugar

1 egg

Flavourings as required (eg lemon rind, cocoa etc)

Rub butter into flour, add sugar and egg etc and mix to a stiff dough, roll out and use cutters.

I made it pink and used pig cutters the other day! Grin

There are loads of biscuit recipes in the recipes section on here after there was a Mumsnet biscuit competition! Have a look through there.

You could try something like these slice and bake biscuits. You can flavour them with whatever you fancy. They're designed to be rolled into a log and sliced, but I'm sure you could roll out the dough and use cutters - they do spread a little when cooked though so may not hold shapes well.

Nigella's Rainy Day Biscuits are good for shapes but the basic recipe is a plain biscuit.
