Introducing spices

Can anyone offer me any advice on introducing spices to my babies food. She is 9 months old and eats pretty much anything (loves her finger food).
Does anyone have suitable recipes based on indian or mexican style food?
Many thanks x

MIne just had curries and chilli with us from that age. I did used to mix in a bit of natural yoghurt or creme fraiche for DD1 but DD2 was never bothered. They now eat chopped raw chillies in stuff at 4 and 2. Spare ribs, marinaded chicken legs/wings, coronation chicken are all good too

Thanks hun; are there any major do's & don'ts???? I think I'll try her on BBQ marinades this week and see how she enjoys them. xxx

Not as far as i know! Spices (especially fresh ones - garlic, chilli, ginger) are all fantastically healthy. Maybe just watch any processed sauces as they may be quite salty.
Mine love thai curries made with coconut milk as i guess these are quite sweet

Dal is always popular with naan to dip into in our house.

I make coconut milk curries when really pressed for time with a half a teaspoonful (or less!) of Pataks korma paste and a tin of mixed beans or borlotti beans and lo fat coconut milk.

Lamb keema with cold natural yogurt and soft naan bread.

Sorry about the lack of recipes but I tend to look up on the internet before making them. Usually use something like BBC or UKTV.

Always quite safe to add things like cumin and coriander powder I think.

If these are not very age appropriate it is because it was all a big blur at the timeWink.

Loving the idea of Dal and nan bread; a wonderful idea that i will be trying very soon.
We tried my personal version of chicken pad thai this evening and she loved the flavours - throwing the noodles around the kitchen seemed like good fun too.
Happy days to you all :)
