desparately trying to find something the children will eat that is filling and nutritious, just bought ready-made polenta - anyone know if it's tasty/any good nutritionally/filling/anything about it?

I thought it tasted disgusting

it's quiet nice if you griddle it. Heat the griddle, oil the polenta & then heat through, top with rataouille (sp?) & grated cheese.
Could probably grill as well.

It's got a gritty sort of texture, so maybe an acquired taste - not sure it's particulary nutritious. Have you tried quinoa ? good added to casseroles, or served instead of rice with a curry/chilli. Can add peas/sweetcorn to it. Or couscous - not sure of nutrition & avoid the packets which have hydrogenated oil in them. Bulger wheat is also 'interesting' ! but good for you.

Hmmm think I'll give it a try at the weekend seeing as how I've gone and bought the stuff - thanks mojomummy for the ideas.

Polenta is fabulous stuff. But if you eat it "wet" you must add butter and parmesan or it is tasteless, and pair it with something gutsy.
