Fancy making Jam and Chutney's as presents... please help me!

what do i need? can i just use old jam jars or do i need special ones? if i buy kilner jars do i need wax seals? what are the wax seals for?

I use old ones but make sure you run them through the dishwasher first and dry thoroughly in the oven.
No idea about wax seals,sorry

I use old jars. Just dishwash and use stright out of that. No special wax discs either. Just put the dishwashed lif bakc on tightly. But do it while still steaming hot.

You might need t jam pan though...

Put a circle of paper tied on with string over the top of the metal lid.

Get the dc's to hand-write the labels.

i used greaseproof paper soaked in vodka on top as a seal then lids (my book said it stops mould).
and country living always has handwritten luggage labels tied round the top...

i did see some at the weekend at a village fete for £1.80 a jar and wondered about making some money from all my preserves lined up
