1st birthday cake recipe

I'd like to make my son's 1st birthday cake and would like it to be healthy-ish / low in sugar etc. His birthday's at the end of Sept and I've very little time to practice so any tried and tested recipes (for icing too!) would be gratefully received! Thank you thank you :)

C'mon, he's one! Treat him to a little proper cake!

If he can eat banana cake, I have used this recipe and it was good.

You could make a monkey face on it. Instead of frosting you could put whipped cream, and you can probably cut half the sugar out of the cake recipe.

Oops, I am sorry, not that recipe, I put the wrong one. I have not tried that first one I posted, it was in my bookmarks for future.

This one I have tried, and it is good.

Great, thanks for the suggestions! My son loves bananas so I may give this one a go :)

I did a carrot cake for my DS, no nuts (obviously) and extra sultanas..
