Has any one made Tana's choc and beetroot cake. Am attempting it tomorrow for DH birthday. Why do you have to make the dip in the middle??

I make one from a recipe that I cut out of newspaper - it involves whizzing up cooked beets in the food processor then copious amounts of cocoa powder. It is delicious but doesn't need a hole in the middle Hmm.

Do you mean a dip so that it doesn't "peak" when rising?

I am not sure the recipe just says to make a did in the middle with a spoon before cooking, am slightly worried about grating all that beetroot, I can only see alot of mess and pink fingers ahead.
Glad to hear it was yum though.

my friend made this cake, it was delicious, very moist and yummy.

food processor all the way though, red/pink/purple hands are not attractive. Grin

Don't grate - use food processor.

Many fruit cakes tell you to dip the middle, usually so it comes out flat iyswim.

Melt choc and cream together for ganache topping.
