What sort of combi microwave is it? Some can be used just as an oven but have lots of options - so it can be more flexible. Generally they aren't as big but it depends on the make / model you have.

We have one BIG oven but use that for weekend meals / batch baking. The combi oven is used most days - smaller, heats up quicker - examples metballs yesterday cooked on combi took half time it says and still look normally cooked. Most combis can change power options etc.

However, the cheaper combi may be little more than a grill type function. Have a Sharp now but after using SIL fancy Siemens model we may swap for that one day - the Sharp is getting on a bit and I like good gadgets.

Hi, I realise this thread is quite old (!) but wondered if you'd found any decent recipes? I've just moved into a new house that only has a combi oven and have managed to find a grand total of one combi recipe online. Any suggestions?

Ilik

Is it a grill combi or an oven combi? If it is an oven combi you can use it as you would an oven, or as a microwave. You don't actually need to use the combi function.

Does it have some symbols on it? Min was pictures of things like chicken or baked potato - for these you press the button and then put the weight in and the combi cooks it automatically.

It's a microwave combi oven. I've worked out the microwave bit and have used it as an actual oven, but when I do, it sometimes turns itself off and doesn't always cook things through as quickly as it would do in my old oven. Wondered if i would get more out of it in combi mode...

And it's got a grill in it. It's got a cool crisp plate option too to cook pizza with.
