It seems supid throwing away ends of perfectly decent bread when I have to make breadcrumbs from scratch. Anyway, whats the best way, I have used the oven for white but the wholemeal doesnt dry up so quick - is there a length of time to leave in the oven? Also best way to store - tupperware or freeze. Will they keep tidy in tupperware?

I don't use the oven, just let them go stale au natrel. Then grate or blitz. Bag and freeze.

I just cut up the bread into chunks and throw in the food processor and give it a whiz. They freeze well and keep for ages.

Same as happysmiley, though I do put them in a warm oven for a few minutes and then let them cool if they are too soft. Then I mix them with chopped parsley and grated parmesan and freeze them.
