The cupboard is rather bare. I have some chicken breast fillets and some nice chorizo sausage, veg wise only some sweet potato and corn on the cob.

How could I cook the chicken and chorizo in a hot pot kind of way. Then perhaps I could roast the sweet potato to have with it?

Any ideas, I am crap at things like this!

nigella (OK Stop me it is my second post about her today I am obsessed!) does a great chicken and chorizo recipe where she serves it with canellini beans ad kale... maybe you could adapt and make something like that.. cook chicken and then make a cassoulet type thing wth corn and chorizo and service with the potato?

Er... chop up the chicken and chorizo, put it in a casserole pot, fry it to brown the outsides (do you have garlic? I'd add some garlic.) with some stock (or made up gravy granuals!) If you have a tin of tomatoes, shove that in too and cook till done. Can you cook the sweet potatoes, slice them into thick slices, maybe then put them on the top of the casserole bit like a hotpot so they cook crispy? Cook corn on the cob separately.

Do you have any onion or garlic? You could fry up some onion and garlic, then chop the chicken into small pieces and add that to the pan, brown it all over, then add slices of chorizo. Throw in a bayleaf or some herbs if you have any, then add a slug of wine or sherry.

Bring to the boil and simmer for 10 minutes then transfer to a casserole dish. Slice up the sweet potatoes and layer them on top like a hot pot. Add more stock at this point if you need to. Bung the whole lot in the oven, covered for the first 10 minutes then take the lid off and cook for another 30 minutes until the potatoes are brown and crispy.

I've never done this, by the way - it's just the kind of thing that I'd do for dh if I had chicken and chorizos in the cupboard so can't vouch for what it would taste like.

And Soupy would do the same thing so it can't be that bad an idea

I don't suppose you have any brown rice?

then you could cook it in the stock with the chicken bits a la delia
