Best student cookbook for a guy?

questions2008 · 03/09/2010 23:50

my cousin is off to uni and he currently knows how to cook an egg, make tuna sandwiches and has seen pasta being cooked...!! so although he won't starve i'm sure he'll appreciate being able to make a few more interesting things in a few month's time, he's willing to learn, i think!

so what are your recommendations for the best student cookbooks for a complete novice in the kitchen, i looked on amazon and there seems to be a fair selection so didn't know which to choose.

That 'How to Boil an Egg' one used to be popular.

Delia Smiths One is Fun.

I learned to cook from that as a student in 1982. It got me a wife too as the recipes are simple yet impressive.

why does it matter that he's a "guy"? Grin

The Sam Stern books are good.

I use this one,and I'm not a student,but there are a lot of good recipes,and my cousin.who is a student, loves it.

I gave all of my babysitters (who dared leave to go to University... completely ignoring my social life) all three of the Delia How to Cook series. Each of them now cooks brilliantly and have branched out in the meals that they prepare. :D

Same as MarsLady - mine went off with How to Cook - all three.
