Help! We're moving house and they are taking the cooker with them!

And we've already promised ours to our buyer!

I daren't order a cooker for the new house until I've measured up (too far away to nip and do this) and at least exchanged contracts.

I will have a microwave and a toaster to cook delicious family meals...help!

Any suggestions for meals I can cobble together with these measly pieces of kichen eqipment?

Thanks :)

baked potatoes can be turned in to anything.

frozen, tinned veg, baked beans, onions and mushrooms, stuffed pita pockets, tinned soup, cold foods ie salad, cous cous, pre packed mackerel, pre cooked meats.

get a slow cooker!

seriously. Chilli, stew, pot roast style chicken,

how about a camping stove to tide you over in the meantime?

VivaLeBeaver · 01/09/2010 20:18

You can buy a plug in double electric hob that goes on the worktop for about £30 from Argos. We had to use one for 6 months when we moved house as they took the cooker and we did a kitchen renovation and I refused to pay to have a gas oven fitted that we were then going to move.

Have you got an electric steamer? You can do loads in them - potatoes/rice, veg and fish/chicken.

Thanks for the ideas.

I forgot I had a slow cooker! And have just remembered that we have a dusty, spidery camping stove in the woodshed.

With that and microwavable cake I may well be sorted!

This sounds bizarre, but do you think that I can steam veg in my DD's bottle steriliser>

I will miss roast chicken and game pie though....

You can steam your veg in the microwave can't you? Just wash veg so it's wet and put a small amt of water in the bowl. Cover and cook. It's kind of steamed isn't it?

How long will it take to get a new cooker?
