I cook up my pasta. Drown it in cheese sauce then top it with lots of cheese and bung it in the oven. Doesn't take long.. tastes great!

make a white sauce - butter, flour, milk. Add grated cheese, pinch of mustard powder, salt and pepper and a sprinkle of nutmeg. mix into cooked pasta, then sprinkle grated cheese on top and put under hot grill for 25 mins or so til crisp. yum.

That's how I do mine too, Mars. Sometimes I add some crushed crisps to the topping if I fancy a bit of crunch, but that's basically it.

tomatoes, salad, use it as a side dish with supper. I like giraffeski's mum's way... chopped bacon... yummy

The ladies that posted after me have explained cheese sauce.

dollop of butter/marg, flour (about a tablespoon), milk. Put in pan, turn on heat and stir!!!!!!!!!!!! When it starts to thicken add cheese. As much as you like!

Like the idea of adding peppercorns and a bayleaf, will try that. I also gently fry some crushed garlic in the melted butter before adding the flour (read that tip in a magazine somewhere).

Oooh, I really fancy this for tea now!

make white sauce (butter, flour, milk) add grated cheese (stronger the better) and a tin of chopped tomatoes

mix cooked pasta with sauce put in a casserole dish and sprinkle with lots more cheese then bake for 40 mins (covered for first 30)

makes it go garishly pink when you first add them .. but once baked its quite yummy

I suppose it depends if you like tomatoes or not

PS don't forget to salt pasta when cooking it

MarsLady · 31/08/2005 22:22

so... how was your marcaroni cheese?

zaphod · 31/08/2005 22:26

I make the cheese sauce as usual, but add some cooked frozen spinach and blend it with my hand blender, it goes a lovely green colour, and we call it Popeye Pasta.

HelenEmjay · 01/09/2005 15:17
