From breast to what ??

I am still breast feeding my nine month old son first thing in the morning and last thing at night only. However I have just returned to work and can't always be home in time to put him to bed. He has always hated formula milk but we have just tried him on Nannygate which he LOVES! I don't know whether to wean him onto a bottle of this at night as presumably the sucking will still calm him down, or whether to go straight onto a beaker (but will this have the same soothing effect?). Everything is all a bit strange for him at the moment so I can hopefully delay this for a few weeks (horrible work permitting!).

Has anyone got any thoughts/ideas on what I should do?

The comforting comes from a nice warm soft breast and a bottle isn't able to simulate this. And of course there is one vital factor missing - yourself. You can't really substitute breastfeeding with anything else so I'd not even bother to try. If you are only breastfeeding so little anyway why worry about giving him any milk at all? I presume your husband/partner will be putting him to bed so a cuddle/story should be enough comforting for him. You could make up the milk during the daytime with extra cheese/yoghurt.

What time is his bedtime? You could make it later as I am sure you'd rather see him. Your partner could have him ready and you just put him down with a quick breastfeed.
