Is there anyone who doesn't have any crisps, chocolate, biscuits, cakes or sweets in the house simply because they just don't like them?

I'm not that keen. Very occasionally when I'm out I fancy some "nice" crisps or a piece of Green and Blacks chocolate, milkybar moments, munchies, toffee crisps or buttons or perhaps some banana cake with my coffee. I will get these things when I see them and fancy them but I wouldn't buy these items every week because I haven't really got a sweet tooth and it makes more sense to spend the budget on stuff I actually like to eat.

I'm a bit like that. I just don't like greasy stuff so crisps make me cringe. The same with milk chocolate, although I very occasionally get some Bournville, usually when I've got a cold.

I buy jelly babies as a treat for DS and yesterday I made apple crumble but that's it. I'd rather eat veg and fish but apparently that makes me very difficult to live with. Hmm

I don't buy crisps or chocolate to keep in, do get biccies for the kids and dh as a treat. Try to keep things like chocolate, crips and sweets for treats so only buy 1 pack at a time (when they are good).

i dont have much

i home bake all my cakes always... i dont think it would cross my mind to buy them (not that i make that many, only if we have visitors or an "occasion")

Now i live with OH there are crisps in the cupboard for his packed lunch, and it wouldnt even enter my head to eat them.
when i lived alone there were no crisps in my cupboard!

we have biscuits in the house... dont eat them often but i like them to be there in case i want one... (or to offer to builder or something)

to put it in perspecyive BEFORE the summer holiday began i opened a pack of custard creams, of which there are still over half left...
I also keep a multipack of chocolate bars, which i use for picnics or if we are off out for the day... it was a pack of 9 opened a month or 2 ago, and there are 5 left!

Nope, don't have them in the house as I would EAT them.

If you don't like crisps, have you tried vegetable crisps? They are great. Or make your own with thin slices of beetroot, potato, carrot and parsnip, roasted with a tiny bit of oil.

hidetheelephant · 28/08/2010 00:28

How do you get the slices to be thin enough?

I don't have much. I buy the odd packet of crisps for DD and I sometimes eat salted ones myself - I just don't like flavoured ones; they taste rubbish.

And I don't have a sweet tooth so we make biscuits and cakes much less sweet than shop bought. I'd rather have a heaving fruit bowl Grin
