How do you store lots of vanilla pod?

I got loads in bulk....they arrived vacuum packed, so i stored them in the opened pack, in a tupperware. Bad Idea - they have gone mouldy...I assume because they are quite moist on the inside when you cut them up. so how do you store them so they keep? They are so much cheaper to buy this way, but obviously if they go mouldy within a month, its a bit of a false economy!!

I always stored one in a jar of sugar to make vanilla sugar, and it lasted a long time.

Wow thats some number. Maybe you could make your own extract?!

Whenever I buy it it comes vacuum packed. Perhaps the sugar option would be good for ten or so? Or maybe foil? I don't know if this may taint the flavour though. Do they freeze maybe?

god knows......I will have to experiment...or buy less ridiculous quantities! I get through them quite quick, but not THAT quick! Freezing would be great, will have to experiment...
