DS2 wants Pakoras for tea. I have never made them myself and need a recipe that will work first timeSmile

You couldn't find them in supermarket?

gorionine · 24/08/2010 17:32

I probably could but it would spoil the fun of making them ourselves a bitSmile

Gram flour, add cold water (deffo not hot as it will cook the flour - did this once). Stir with a whisk and make sure the mixture is not too runny. Add a touch of baking powder, salt, chopped onions and fresh chopped coriander and chili powder if you want - can also add sliced courgettes or aubergines.

Heat oil in shallow pan. When it it hot drop in a spoonful of the mixture and fry.

Do not make the mixture too runny or the oil too deep as they won't fry properly.

Ok, I have made them with PFV batter recipe, adding Saadia's baking powder and following her cooking tips. I used different veg as I realised I only had carrots, onions and potatoes (I did saute the onion s a bit and steem the veg before adding them to the batter ,not sure I should have but was worried the veg vould be too crunchy otherwise). The children absolutely loved them and ds2 decided it would be great in his lunchbox. I agree with him!Smile

I cannot wait to taste the couple I managed to "save" from them!

Thank you very much, great team work! I will certainly do them again!
