Pack lunch ideas (for me!)

I am going back to university to start a PGCE in September and I am wondering what to take for my lunch every day. I am reluctant to have to buy something because I think it would add up.

I take a packed lunch to work every day but I have access to a fridge, hot water and a microwave. I usually take a jacket potato, soup, sanwiches, or pate and melba toast.

Any ideas what I can take to university that will cope with being in my bag all day? I am walking there and don't want to end up with loads of bags as well as my coat (lunchbag+normal bag will be a pain I think?). Nowhere to store things either.

Any ideas? Thanks.

I'd take pasta and sarnies, or cous cous.

But have you looked at buying small insulated lunchboes? I got www.amazon.co.uk/WHITE-SPOTS-FRIENDLY-INSULATED-LUNCH/dp/B001FDC8VA which is great. Just fits a tupperware into it, and also a drink and packet of crisps - or banana or something. It slips neatly into bottom of rucksack.

Maybe after your first week, you might find there's access to a microwave, so then you could bring tins of soup in?

Good luck with PGCE - I'm doing a flexi one and i'm LOVING it! V. hard work, but really interesting. :)

you can buy a flask that is small and wide to store hot pasta, soup or stew in (handy for cold winter days). Im getting one for DD for school so she can add extra variety into her packed lunch.
