Chilli not hot enough - advice please!

I'm making chilli, used 1.5 fresh red chillis including seeds (medium sized ones, not the tiny strong ones!) it's nearly ready and just tasted it, it's really bland!

Should I add tobasco, or can I add more chilli before it's finished cooking? Or chilli powder (if I can find some at the back of my cupboard!)

Many thanks

we use chilli powder, cummmin and cinamon

a la jamie oliver

dont know if this helps

I would add some chilli powder for depth and some fresh chilli too. Wouldnt go down the tabasco route but thats just my personal preference.

Thanks for the replies - wasn't sure about the tabasco (usually just use it for bloody marysSmile)

Never thought of cinnamin and I do have that - off to check for chilli powder and cumin!

Do you have any hot paprika too? Or some thyme - this won't make it spicier but it will give it some more flavour. And a teaspoon of cocoa would help too.

I have smoked paprika, would that do or would it be too overpowering? (bought it as I liked the tin and used once!) Bit nervous about the cocoa but what the hell might add a bit since I've got some!

Thanks

Ok I've added

More chilli
Cumin seeds
cinnamon
cocoa

Couldn't fond any chilli powder but it has certainly got a good flavour I think. It's certainly not bland! My sister is coming over tonight so will let her be the judge!

Thanaks all

If it's the smoked paprika in the lovely red tin it is v hot, so should work well!

For spiciness I'd add chilli powder. For flavour I put in tomato ketchup and a splash of worcestershire sauce - those are from a Pat Chapman recipe.
