im having a new kitchen im sooooo excited iv waited 5 years dh makes bespoke ones for a living but as its his own buissness so we have had to wait our turn. i love love love cooking so its very important i get it right. its a kitchen diner and i want it to be lovely and cosy perfect for friendly dinner parties (oooh im so excited) thing is iv toyed with some colour scemes but nothing sticks i just cant decide. most of my friends have lovely but very wishy washy kitchens that i just dont like i want mine to be warn and rich. The kitchen itself is solid oak shaker type style with oak tops and modernish handles would anyone care to imput what they think would make it look perfect? its got good natural light from both ends and we are having spotlights aswell as under cabinate lights. i was thinking of creating a feature wall behind were im putting the dining table. iv toyed with plum and patterned wallpaper on the feature wall but now i debating olive and morrocan red? can someone please help me?

What colour tiles/fittings are you having?

what direction do your windows face? I've heard that british light, us being quite northern, is bluer (due to angles of earth to sun...same phenomena that makes things near the horizon seem bluer if i recall my art school colour theory correctly) that's why med colour schemes inspired by hols look shit here...so maybe go for plum notes like you mention. Or in the olive and red combo more olive (which is cooler than the red) with highlights of the red.

Look at fired earth for tiles. They are pricey but absolutely devine! I did our fireplace in them... Did it myself so cost less, and will love it forever rather than some shite from b and q that i'll put up with for a while...
