Bought a bag of Fruits de Mer by mistake. What do I do with it?

I bought a frozen bag of Fruits De Mer from Tesco. It contains prawns, shelled mussels, scallops & squid rings. I thought I was buying prawns Confused.
My family are not very adventurous when it comes to fish so I'm looking for a recipe that they won't mind eating. Any ideas?

Fish pie? They probably won't notice if its all mixed up in a sauce and covered in mash.

Pasta with seafood, garlic and white wine- yum!

Yesterday, funnily enough, I used a bag of fruits de mer in a pasta bake

Cooked some conghile (spelling?!) the shell pasta...

drained, mixed with creme fraiche, grated parmesan, sauted courgette and sauted fruits de mer (cooked straight from frozen in a bit of olive oile in a frying pan)

Grated parmesan on top and cooked in oven for about 15 minutes.

WAS LOVELY

Now I think about it, I had some cream cheese that I put into it too as was running low on creme fraiche.

second for risotto or fish pie

I use for risotto too, with lots of lemon and parsley. Also use with white fish in a fish stew (with fish stock, wine, onions saffron)or an olive oily tomato sauce with pasta.

Fruits de mer are lovely! And really useful to keep in the freezer.

I bought one of those bags to make a risotto and I wasn't impressed. The seafood was gritty and it ruined a nice meal.

Hopefully yours will be nicer.

paella :)

PinkyMe · 15/08/2010 08:11

Went with paella in the end, and as I imagined neither dd nor DH ate it, (it wasn't that bad, honest).

I have given up on my unadventurous household and will be sticking to chicken and potatoes, roast and potatoes, mince and potatoes, from now on [sigh].

Buy another bag and make it again and agaiin, for yourself, using half portions and eventually it will become "normal" food in your house.

Then one day, you never know, one of them will try it again and maybe even like it!
