Bought chocolate sponge cake

Idiot DP didn't look at the Best Before date which is 17th August. We need it on the 19th August. 1) Will it taste OK 2) Can we put it int he fridge to keep it fresher or will the texture go weird?

I was worried it would go bit hard and stale.

It has milk chocolate buttercream ganache.

So shall I leave in cool, dry place (cupboard) or move to fridge?

You must be so much more disciplined than I. I would immediately think "Oh darn it...I guess i will have to (mumble whilst shovelling cake in mouth)...eat that one now (mumble) and buy another one for the 19th. Oh well....."
