Dd's birthday party is Saturday and I plan to make 3 cakes the day before which I will ice on Saturday morning. Have just realised I don't have any cake containers. Where can I get some or failing that could I just cover them in foil? I'm making eggless choc cake TIA

yes just put foil or cling film on them. sometime I put a clean tea towel around and in the fridge.

Thanks very much mamaloco - easier than scrabbling around trying to find containers.

I just cover with a clean tea towel overnight & mine are always alright under there

I would make sure that they have cooled fully and then wrap them up in double layers of foil and just leave them on the side. They will be absolutely fine! I think just popping a tea towel on top is probably ok but wouldn't it let too much air at them and make them dry?

I normally double wrap mine in foil. If you put them in the fridge take them out and bring them back to room temperature before you ice them otherwise the icing will sweat.

You would be better to ice them on the Friday because you will be bound to be stressed out doing 3 on the Saturday morning.

Cut, fill and cover them on the Friday then decorate and build the cake on the Saturday. The icing will also have set and you will be able to decorate it much easier.

Good Luck..
