forgot to get any meat out of the freezer so I'm going to do a fish stew, as we have loads of those fillets where you're supposed to cook them from frozen. mostly white fish but may put a bit of salmon in too.

got leeks, cabbage, broccoli, peppers.

also got teeny tiny potatoes (home grown!)

my question is how do I make the sauce for it? should I poach everything in milk/water? we have veg bouillon stuff which is about all we can use as DH can't have gluten.

or do I somehow add in a white sauce? we do have cheese, butter and GF flour.

any advice? :)

I either make it with whole milk, veg stock and saffron - bit like this one

or with tinned tomatoes, white wine veg stock and garlic.

Both equally nice!

I'd do it in a tomato sauce.

I make the sauce and then add the fish in order it will cook, and tend to serve with garlic bread.

I'd cook the potatoes first, and use the leeks instead of onion in the tom sauce and serve with brocolli. Not sure about cabbage going with the stew I have in mind.

I also wouldn't serve with bread if it contained potatoes, but then I'm weird about having more than one carb with a meal.

yes, I've done tomatoey ones a few times - we tend to have tomato things a lot though so I thought I'd do a white sauce.

I guess I could do it in milk and stock like on that link, then if it's a bit thin thicken it with cornflour... hmm. we shall see in a couple of hours when I have to do it!
