At what age did you start letting your dc help you cook using the hob?

I let mine actually turn on the gas hob himself age 7. Prior to that he did some stirring of sauces but no lighting of flames!!

dd ia 3 next week and a competent stirrer when standing on a chair and closely supervised

doesn't turn gas on or off though

DS1 cooks scrambled eggs at 5+. Closely supervised. No lighting hob himself though.

under VERY close supervision i let a VERY sensible 4 year old stir at the hob...

he has had it drummed into him forever that you have one hand on handle, one hand on wooden spoon and is standing on a stool that puts him at an appropriate hight (ie not too high either)
