Hello
Im hoping someone can help me..
I have just bought 2 delciouse looking pork steaks (200g each) from the farmers market, bread in the farm down the road

Im just wondering how to cook them
I am a confident cook and cook anything and everything really, but i dont think i have ever cooked just a pork steak
(Im always chopping things and adding to recipies / sauces etc)

Can i just over bake it? or fry it? (I have no instructions!!! what temp, for how long?

I have a garden full of fresh herbs, and a kitchen full of all normal ingrediants.

I have courgettes to use up and can also use broccolli / carrots, and as i have millions of potatoes id like to serve it with some potatoe dish

all ideas greatfully recieved

TIA

This recipe is really delicious.

Frying or grilling works well with pork steaks. If you don't fancy lemon and rosemary, you could marinate it in soy sauce/chinese five spice/sesame oil/ginger, or honey and mustard.

I would probably do potato wedges as a side, with steamed broccoli and carrots.

You could oven bake them in foil with some thyme and lemon. They'd probably need about 20 mins at 200 I'd think.

Hot pan with garlic/thyme/sage/chilli flakes/mustard or anything to season them to your tastes. If you have a griddle pan EVEN BETTER.

I prefer pan done, with a small amount of olive oil, as opposed to baked, because you get a nice almost crispy outside and a moist inside.

I in fact had pork steaks, courgettes and potatoes last night for my diner and it was ABSOLUTELY YUM!!!!!!!!

Potatoes - par boiled lightly, sliced and sauted? Or you don't have to par boil, can just slice, but if you par boil, the edges get every so slightly scuffed up and you get those beautiful crispy edges to your sautes....

I chopped some pork steaks the other day and friend with olive oil, double cream, red onion and a red pepper I also added mustard and garlic.
It tasted lovely.

If you want simple, stick them under the grill.

Then just before they are ready, top with apple sauce and mature cheddar and bung them back under the grill until the cheese melts.

Peel and chop an apple into largeish chunks.

Get your frying pan hot, put in some oil and butter, brown the pork steaks

Once browned, turn the heat down, add more butter and put in the apple

leave to slowly cook.

You can also add cider or cream... Fresh thyme or parsley go well if you have them.

Yum

(but not as yummy as ComeWhine's chopped "friend" )
