Is there something wrong with having the same breakfast and/or lunch every day?

Both the dd's have the same breakfast every day - porridge. If it was up to dd1 she'd also have the same lunch every day - Philadelphia sandwiches, cucumber pieces and cherry tomatoes, a yoghurt and fruit. Dinner is varied and she eats basically everything then. Is there a problem with giving the same stuff every day?

She does have sweeties/biscuits/crisps on top of that, but not too much if I can help it!

No lentils ever, just sort of don't figure in my food brain.
She does have meat though, maybe three or four times a week?

I don't think it matters, as long as they get a balance over the week of all food types and vitamins.

My boys like to have the same thing for weeks on end, then the switch and have something else. As long as it's fairly healthy, I don't mind - and it makes the shopping easier and mealtimes!

Sounds fine to me - my DS's usually have the same breakfast and lunch everyday, and then a different meal in the evening (varied through out the week).

One of the children I was a nanny to while in canada just ate

Peanut Butter and jam sandwiches

for breakfast and lunch each day for all the time I was there which was over a year. Her mum asked the Dr and was told it was quite a healthy "fad" and to let her continue.

Your DDs diet seemed quite healthy IMHO

My DTs have porridge most mornings too, usually with a different fruit though, or honey if I think they deserve a treat

nothing nutritionally wrong at all with this diet I would say. I dream of getting my daughter to eat such variety and quantity. Well done you I say.

well i ALWAYS have bran flakes.... EVERY day (very occasionally fruit and fibre) have done so for the past 10 years + EVERY single day without exception and im sure it does me no harm!

as long as their overall diet is balanced and varied (and by the sounds of it your child is) then im sure theres not a problem
