Bake on Weds, eat on Sat

We want to make a festive cake for Weds to eat on sat, any ideas?

erm- not sure they are festive but honey cake gets better after a few days, it a traditional jewish cake i think and in nigella lawson how to be a domestic goddess theres a recipe for damp lemon and almond cake thats better after few days, but neither are birthday cakey.
