We are seeing how many different things we can make out of 5 basic ingredients.
Flour
Eggs
Butter
Sugar
Milk

So far I have thought of
Pancakes (Scotch and crepe)
scones
meringues
sponge cake
shortbread
pastry

We have 'guest' ingredients once a week so with cheese I can do
Quiche
cheese scones

fruit
crumble
fruit sponge

But then I am running out of ideas, I know there must be more!

yorkshire puddings
tarts or pies
a guest ingredient could be yeast and you could make bread - loaf, buns and flat bread/pizza base

Maybe Mrs. Salt can come to visit one week with her friend Mr. Water and you can make all kinds of pasta

Ilythia · 01/08/2010 16:18

I know it's twee tub but she's only 4! Pasta good idea though, she'll freak out when she realises you make it. (she is convinced it grows on plants..)

Yorkshires
yeast great idea.
yy re tarts, the pastry has about 5 or 6 subrecipes

thanks!

Oh and custard!

I'm going to try the microwave spionge pudding for tea tonight I think!

cece · 01/08/2010 17:56

It was yum. Put some golden syrup in bottom of bowl before cooking.

With chocolate as a guest ingredient you can make brownies, or a chocolate pudding. And you can probably make a variety of sweets with that lot too.
