Alternative to cream cheese

I have loads of cupcake receipes with icing using cream cheese. Most of these don't taste very nice if you substitute soft cheese (such as Philadelphia) and I can't get cream cheese at any of my local supermarkets so I'm wondering if anyone can suggest an alternative that actually tastes nice

Hi there, i dont have any problem getting Mascarpone in all my local supermarkets. If you are in the uk and cant get it locally why not try online delivery from Abel & Cole or Milk & More

Otherwise check this alternative out. Seems to come up in several recipes when you type mascarpone alternative in google.
