When do they start drinking coffee?

Our 3 year old will only drink coffee if it has lots of milk and 3 sugars. Is this normal? I'm a bit worried that he's getting a sweet tooth.

You'd be better with a fruit shoot

LittleMisscantbewrong · 27/07/2010 15:45

No, as long as he's not dunking a each time he'll be fine

bananastainsonallmytops · 29/07/2010 21:17

Is this supposed to be a joke?

Lynli · 29/07/2010 21:36

An Irish coffee helps them sleep.

Smash09 · 29/07/2010 22:44

Mine don't like coffee Lynli - So I just give them a baileys instead.

My lovely but dotty mother thinks I'm seriously neglecting my DS' development by not teaching him how to enjoy a cup of tea. Coffee's 'foreign' on the other hand, so it's OK not to have that.

stleger · 30/07/2010 14:20

Irish coffee at bedtime is fine if it is decaff.

pippop1 · 30/07/2010 22:47

My son of 21 has just started to enjoy tea, hates coffee and my 18 year old hates both. Fine with me. Have a glass of water instead.

Sorry I've not responded before, we've been in France. He'll now dunk a pain au chocolat in café au lait without sugar and eat it, but sitll insists on having sugar in ordinary coffee.

He's really hyperactive too. I must get him off the sugar.

hmm perhaps its the cafine not the suger Hmm

StormyWeather · 10/08/2010 10:24

Never heard of a child as young as that drinking coffee, but each to their own I suppose. Hmm

If he's really drinking coffee, then, like mothersmilk, I reckon your hyperactivity issues are down to the caffeine.

redhappy · 10/08/2010 15:45

is this real?

StormyWeather · 10/08/2010 16:36

Actually, red, I hope not.

thislittlesisterlola · 11/08/2010 12:38

when i was little my grandma used to put tea in my beaker :) she also used to dunk my dummy in her brandy. This is spain if relevant.

Triathlete · 12/08/2010 09:32

Lola do you think brandy would help calm him down?
