Having a mental food block! We have homecooked meals every day-whether fresh or slow cooker or batch defrosted from the freezer.

DH&I work full time and DD1 is nearly one.

So, ladies, inspire me...what is on your menu this week.

Or what is your winning fam meals?

Today dp is making a cheese and potato pie, with we will have with petit pois a la Francais, using his homegrown lettuce.

Tomorrow we will probably have macaroni cheese, as dd1 is away for the night and she doesn't like it! Probably with salad and a mustardy dressing.

Tuesday - I think we're going out for a curry.

Wednesday - leek and asparagus risotto, with rocket salad

Thursday - lentil chilli and rice or baked potatoes

Friday - no idea!

BelligerentGhoul · 25/07/2010 14:27

which we - NOT with we

Sorry!

Jux · 25/07/2010 14:27

Potatoes!

I'm showing off - we've just dug up our first lot!

Today we are having this with roast pits and snips, green veg and apple sauce.

Tomorrow: some of the leftover meat in home made rolls with barbecue sauce, corn of the cob and coleslaw.

Tuesday: Stir fried veg and noodles.

Wednesday: Grilled salmon, new pots and salad.

Thursday: this though I'll have to sub the sausages with the nearest alternative I can get.

Friday: A version of this with the rest of the pork from today and leaving out the peppers because I don't like them.

Saturday: home made pizzas with salad.

I don't eat lunch, and DD helps herself to whatevers in the fridge-sarnies/salad stuff/cold meat and cheese/fruit or sometimes I get her something from town. She loves a Gregg's sausage roll

We'll have a barbecue instead of whichever meal if the weather is nice.

I've set us a challenge of spending less than £20/week on food for 4 weeks to force us to eat all the stuff in the cupboards/freezer that gets shoved to the back. Fortunately we do have a couple of roasts and a small veg plot.

tonight we are having roast pork, cauliflower and roast potatoes followed by christmas pud. it seems rather inappropriate as its quite warm.

tomorrow I think I will stir fry some of the pork with what ever veg we have and noodles

tuesday I'll make some lettuce soup, homemade bread and ice cream for pud.

weds I might mince the rest of the pork and make some kebab thingies. we have some pitas in the freezer so I'll stuff them with salad and the meatballs.

thurs - we have some fish fingers that need eating and 2 breaded fish things. with croquets and baked beans.

friday - undecided

lunches will be sarnies or eggs or one of the many tinned soups that I put away for emergencies.

Some good ideas. I guess with visitors/DD/work just a bit of a rut.

Improvised y'day eve and had crumbed haddonck with mushy peas/new potatoes & corn on cob.

Slow cooked lamb overnight...YUM!

Just wondering: how long do you think meat lasts when cooked eg keeping the pork and making kebabs later in the week. Till when would lamb be ok do you think?

Rest of the week: Chilli con Carne/ Spag&meatballs/ chicken curry/ baked potatoes.

Also made a frittata over weekend- what a great dinner and keeps in fridge for slices next day. USed up pancetta/courgette/eggs/cheese and was scrumptious.

Keep em coming& happy healthy eating.

V jealous of all you green fingers who manage to grow stuff.
