Prawn question

We're having friends round for dinner and the wife is pregnant. We were thinking of doing prawn cocktail starter and she,s said that's fine Asa long as the prawns are cooked. I thought that all the prawns you bought in packets at the supermarket chilled counter were already 'cooked' - I mean the ones that are pink - not the ones that are translucent and obv not cooked. Am I right or wrong?

You're right

Raw prawns are grey

Cooked prawns are pink.

Have a lovely dinner

I thought so. Who on earth would eat prawns that were not already cooked? I don't have to heat up the pink prawns that I get do I? i can just put them in the cocktail sauce in the salad right?

I think the thing is that you'd want to be sure they were properly cooked, and I expect the pink prawns have been superheated, so no, you don't have to heat them up. That would be gross with the cocktail sauce and everything!!
