What can I take to Boss's BBQ?

Not even sure whether food/or gift or both but thought here was a good place to start.

Boss's boss (I've only been with company 3 months), is having a BBQ at his home on Thursday (after work). I've asked him if there is anything I can bring - apparently not.

I would like to take something - not in nature to turn up empty-handed Was thinking cheesecake or brownies or something, having said that, I dont want to look like a muppet if I take a cheesecake and no fecker eats it -thinking would need plates,someone to cut - cream yadda yadda

Or do I take a gift of some sort?

To complicate matters - weather up here is shit, so chances are it will end up being an inside thing - wii etc.

Dont want to take booze as he lives in the back of beyond so most folk are driving.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Cheesecake ot brownies sounds brilliant to me! Brownies easier as no need for plates or cream.

I think brownies would be lovely. But would definitely take whatever you would like to drink - even if of soft variety.

I generally think if people are having a BBQ/party and they say they don't need you to bring anything, they tend to mean it.

If its at his home, and its after work, will his other half be doing all the prep? If so, I'd go with a bunch of stylish, seasonal British flowers.

Wine and flowers never offends. Take food and you can throw a carefully planned menu right out.

Wine / flowers / chocolates to go with coffee will always go down well
