Why make a point of messaging me to tell me you’re ignoring me?

Just that really.

I’m a member of a hobby forum where we also have an open thread where current affairs, world events etc are also discussed.

I posted a fairly innocuous observation earlier today, several people agreed and that was the end of it.

Tonight I receive an extremely aggressive private message from an individual with an anonymous username who has accused me of being a total bigot, that all my posts are ignorant and that they want me to know they are putting me in the ignore list option that is available to the forum. I guess I’m just feeling a bit over sensitive, but if someone annoyed me with their views, and I felt their contributions somehow offensive or I disagreed with them, I’m not sure I could be bothered to contact them to tell them that I was ignoring them - I’d just do it.

Maybe I just need to put my big girl pants on, but I can’t help feeling a bit stung and woah, where did that come from?

I'd just send back a thumbs up or a laughing crying emoji and leave it at that.

They will be frothing at your lack of indignant reaction.

@DenholmElliot11 The OP says a hobby forum, so presumably the members of the forum can pm one another. I belong to two forums online like that.

This. They want you to be affronted or annoyed. Laughing at them is the best reaction.

Oh. My understanding is that they are giving their number to the group not to private individuals maybe it’s just me then lol

Just don't reply. If they are ignoring you, ignore them back.

If you feel the message contravenes the rules of the group, I would report it to the admins.

I'd simply send this emoji - 🖕
